MFC works with partners and community members to develop collaborative events, resources, and programs including the development of a Community Kitchen at Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program, expanding SNAP/Maine Harvest Bucks at area Farmers’ Markets, and coordinating our Farm Skills Training Program. Our programs seek to: increase access to healthy food; support those growing, raising and harvesting our food; and build community.
Donations received through this campaign will help us remove barriers to participation in our programs, particularly the Farm Skills Training Program. Farm Skills participants learn job skills and farm skills through a network of partners that support the paid 10 week training program. Barriers such as transportation, childcare, work clothing, and food are addressed through our network, so the program is accessible to all who are interested. Ongoing paid work experiences on area farms and career support are also part of our commitment to participants and to building a more resilient local food system. Please learn more about our work and the organizations we partner with to make our programs possible!
Donations are managed on our behalf by our partner, the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust.
Your donation funds programs that connect and support the health of our communities! Thank you!
Please consider adding $10 to your donation for a print copy of Know Your Veggies! Simply add a comment to your donation letting us know if you would like to be mailed a copy or if you would like a copy donated. Donated copies will go to participants in Maine SNAP-Ed cooking classes or will be donated to a local food pantry for their guests.
Thank you!
